Makmur, a soldier weary from the war, finally arrives home, a long-awaited event, and his heart is aching with sorrow because his dear wife, Sari, who was a source of his comfort and joy, is no longer by his side-she is dead. Poor Makmur is too struck by the awful news to comprehend the loss and is even hastened by the realization that she could not have waited for his return. But as days turn into time, he starts to believe that she is around him. Unseen things move around him, and the nights are filled with voices that he is so familiar with.
Sari is leading a shadowy afterlife in the house they used to share and her spiritual love and grief form her ghostly body. Makmur is fighting between the happiness he feels once again that she is there and the mental pain that is provoked by knowing she can’t come back.
